Nov. 8 — This Veterans Day, show troops your support

Published: November 8th, 2007 01:39 PM

Despite what you might see in advertisements this week, Veterans Day isn’t about a 10 percent savings. It’s a celebration of our living heroes. It’s especially important with our local military men and women serving overseas in Iraq and Afghanistan. They are away from their homes and their families, putting their lives on the line. Use this weekend as a chance to show your thanks for their selfless service. Attend a Veterans Day service. Puyallup’s is at 1 p.m. in Pioneer Park. The Col. Harry D. Tunnell, commander of the 5th Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division, Stryker Brigade Combat Team, will speak along with Vicky Mohler, founder of Support America’s Armed Forces. Or, head into Auburn for the largest Veterans Day parade west of the Mississippi. It doesn’t take too much time from a busy weekend but it does let our troops know that we care for them and that we’re proud of their service.
