Dec. 27 — Activist’s passing is a loss for Puyallup community

Published: December 27th, 2007 11:46 AM

It was Eunice Gilliam who spear-headed the installation of the Veterans Memorial in downtown Puyallup. She walked into a city council meeting, said it was time to honor the community’s military and it was done. That’s how she did things.

After a lifetime spent in Puyallup, Eunice passed away Dec. 12. She’s one of the last of a generation born on South Hill when it was still a small, intimate community. With her will go a piece of this area’s history.
